The Last Lecture

Filed under: Uncategorized — smackamack @ 11:17 pm

last-lecture1I read this book over the weekend while I was home for my mouth surgery.  I thought the man who wrote it, Randy Pausch, sounded like the nicest man and i thought his idea to write a book before his death for his children, friends and family was fabulous.  Unfortunately, I found the book to be mostly common sense advice and although charming, nothing life altering for myself.

I find it hard to say  a book isn’t great when it was written by a dying man who was told at 46 that he had 6 months to live with a beautiful family with 3 young children under the age of 6.  The book shouldn’t be judged as a novel, but as a last word by a brave and courageous man who is worth admiration.

I give this book *** and recommend it for people ages 17+ male or female.  If you have had someone close to you die of pancreatic cancer this book will bring back painful memories and may not be something you wish to read.

If you read this book and/or want more information, there are many videos on youtube of his Last Lecture.
