Don’t Mess With The Zohan (2008) – Film Review

Plot: Zohan Dvir works as a Special Agent and lives with his orthodox parents in Israel. He wants to give up this life, which is full of dangerous encounters with Palestinians. While in the process of apprehending a Palestinian activist, known simply as the Phantom, he fakes his death, hides in a dog-kennel on a plane bound for New York, and decides to try his hand as a hair-stylist.

zohanI wasn’t very excited for this film until my friend Miriam said it was hilarious.  It has a lot of Israeli jokes/references and is definitely geared towards a primarily jewish audience.  With that said, it was pretty funny.

Surprisingly, it was co-written by Judd Apatow (Freaks and Geeks)!  I didn’t think it was a great movie, but its good for a laugh.  Some of the stuff is plain stupid, and some of it is hilarious.  It also had a lot of references to old films such as the Producers…that made it funnier for me.

I recommend this film for people who like stupid comedies and give it a 2.5/5 stars.

Ps. I love his pants.
